Spotlight on iLEAD Agua Dulce 2nd Grade Facilitator Mrs. King

The heart of our school is the dedicated team of facilitators, and today we’re shining a light on a veteran educator with over three decades of experience. As a 2nd grade facilitator, Mrs. King brings a wealth of knowledge and a deep commitment to creating a supportive learning environment. From her love of corny jokes to her unique connection with the iLEAD Agua Dulce community, let’s dive into what makes her such an invaluable part of our team.

Please tell us about your background and how you came to be at iLEAD Agua Dulce.

I am a veteran teacher of 32 years. I have experience in both public and private schools.

What is your role at iLEAD Agua Dulce? What’s the best part about it? What’s the biggest challenge? 

I am a second grade facilitator. The best part is the easy going nature of the students. The biggest challenge is reminding myself that every day brings new challenges and that is ok.

What do you LOVE about iLEAD Agua Dulce? What sets it apart from other schools?

The Agua Dulce site sets itself apart by the nature based vibe and love of animals .

In your opinion, what makes a great leader?

A great leader leads by knowing who he/she i leading and using that to guide their path.

There are great social-emotional learning activities/opportunities at iLEAD Agua Dulce. Can you share a story about seeing learners using them in action (or yourself)?

I had a student offer to be a buddy to a new student. She did it “just because” she felt it was a way to welcome her.

What does a day in your school life look like (pick a day, any day…or a composite of a day)?

A day in my school life looks like a carefully orchestrated production where everyone is on stage and everyone is participating in every aspect of the performance; from planning to adjusting as it all comes to fruition where everyone has a stake in the outcome.

• I have two students in my class whose parents I taught at my first school of teaching 30 years ago.
