iLEAD Agua Dulce focuses on a holistic approach to education, nurturing the whole child by developing both their social-emotional and academic skills.
At the start of each school year, instead of a traditional parent-teacher conference, iLEAD Agua Dulce learners, facilitators, and parents/guardians work together to create an Individualized Learning Plan (ILP). This living document guides each learner’s instruction and social-emotional growth throughout the year. The team continues to collaborate, reflecting on, monitoring, and adjusting the ILP as needed.
The main purpose of the ILP is to empower learners to become active participants in their own education. Learners reflect on their achievements, identify areas for improvement, and evaluate their progress. This process starts with basic self-assessment for younger students and builds their ability to critically evaluate their own growth over time.
Throughout the year, learners and facilitators regularly meet to review assessment data, reflect on what they’ve accomplished, and set new goals. Learners also maintain a portfolio to showcase their reflections and progress throughout the school year.
If you haven’t already joined your child and facilitator for the ILP meeting, be sure to look for the sign-up information for a meeting on October 3 to support your learner’s growth.
